. . . After seeing three everlasting daisy plants, my illustration of this golden flower came to mind. I unearthed my painting from 2010, and then reworked it to enhance the sun-filled papery petals and the shadowy blue/grey and brown background tones. Watercolour, graphite, metallic ink and pen on rough watercolour paper, 2017 . . .
. . . I was commissioned to create a painting of Yosemite National Park waterfall. Here are my preliminary ideas progressing through to the framed final outcome . . .

. . . Inspired by a beautiful sculpture created from marble and glass, I painted this eagle . . .
. . . whilst walking through the bush, with my senses open and aware to what may present itself as ideas for drawings, I found a small oval rock slightly above the grassy coverage over the earth. The form and shape of the granite to me echoed an embryo. The developing baby in the womb holds it’s hands close to it’s heart. From the head, heart and hands flows creativity of the human spirit. The baby growing out from the rock upon the earth is a bush baby, ‘…a child of the universe no less than the trees and the stars…’ (Desiderata) . . .
. . . My illustration ‘The story time rock,’ was inspired by a cluster of granite that reminded me of pages in a book. To me, layers of solid rock displaying an array of different markings from the rain, moss and lichen, echoed an open book with the pages dancing in the wind. In certain lights and particular angles I could imagine the rock surfaces inscribed with stories. I wrote my own poem, ‘Inner light,’ to embellish and evoke the essence of this layered rock formation . . .
Inner light . . . Granite beneath my feet and grainy gravelly sandy soil in my hand. You absorb the summer sun rays becoming a boiling boulder. Like a starry night sky you transform into sparkles when the clear quartz crystal shines out from your core of strength and smooth shapes of serenity. Your quartz highlights your wisdom and inner awareness glistening in the December light, as beautiful as rain droplets floating through sunlight.
. . . Drawing preparation for my granite rock inspired body of artwork . . .
. . . The tree framing my heart rock is rather magical. Many a faerie friend and elemental spirit inhabits this place and wake to this eastern outlook. The earth beneath the branches is layered with skeletal gum leaf wings. Here the intricately patterned delicate faerie wings wish and hope for rainstorms to freshen the air and earth . . .
